Got a question about Section D

D. Sand Bags
.................. Front and rear rifle rest must be placed directly on top of the bench with the following exceptions. Spacers may be placed under the rear rest to attain elevation...........

Can I use anything I want as a spacer (like maybe a piece of 3/4 pine or something like that with maybe a rubber pad on either side on it) or does it have to be a specific type of spacer ...

I'm trying to think ahead and figure out what I can and cannot do if my rear bag ends up being too short at some range and I need to elevate it

I had heard that a pine board wouldn't be ok ... then I looked over last years rules and now I'm confused.

Thanks .... Fred

Spacer

The rule at one time more precisely defined a spacer under the rear bag. Considering that what we really needed was something to get our scopes looking at the target and it didn't seem to matter what it was, the rule changed to allow a spacer - period.

Hopefully, being specific again won't be necessary.

Spacer

Fred, there is a spacer available for what you want to do. It's Wilbur approved for IR 50/50
See: Classifieds-Equipment-Rests-BR-Pro Spacer
