Wickliffe stinger rifle

At a local gun show a gentleman had a Wickliffe stinger 22 hornet rifle. It looked really well made and it is in my wheelhouse as I'm a big .22 caliber fan. I've scoured the internet and now appeal to those more knowledgeable. The blue book says this rifle is worth $400. Last one I saw selling at auction was $675. On forums I see people offering $12-1500. I think I can buy it for $600. What in the world is it worth? Anyone have personal experience? Are they shooters?
 
georgia outdoor news has a post on them. stinger is standard not delux model. if in good condition it is probably a very good deal. if i wanted it i'd jump on it for 600.
 
I believe this is the deluxe model with the silver cap. Stinger was the 22 caliber designation. I'm trying to figure out the huge discrepancy in value from book to auction etc. And figure out which is right.
 
Stinger is the model not the ammo. It is $395 in the Blue Book at 100% new condition. If very clean should sell for about $250.
