Why Anschutz has a grub screw in the 2013

Anschutz gurus,
I have a question about the flat bottomed Anschutz 2013 action. This action has a grub screw which is in contact with the bottom of the barrel on a purpose machined flat surface. A smaller screw locks the grub screw in place. Why? What is the purpose of this grub screw and how does different tension on it affect the barrel? I have read previously in other posts that this grub screw has no purpose and can be thrown away. If this is the case why do Anschutz go to the effort of extra machining and cost for no benefit?

Thanks in advance for any answers

IMO it simplifies the assembly of the rifle on the production line. It properly aligns the bbl markings and maintains the headspace while the 3 clamp screws are torqued down. On my rifle after torqueing the clamp screws I remove the set screw.

Ray,
Your opium about the grub screw has been confirmed by an email I received from Anschutz in answer to a question I asked them. Anschutz were very helpful and described the function of the screw as a "fixing screw". They also said it was only done up hand tight and did confirm that it could affect group size. They further advised me that the three actions screws (which hold the barrel in the action) should be tightened to 5N, 7N and 7N from the muzzle end. Thanks for your help.
Regards
Allan
