Whole buncha rimfire shot this past weekend

Thanks to all that came out to support the hosting clubs and rimfire benchrest in general.

Your welcome Wilbur. It’s very nice of you to acknowledge us shooters and the amount of time and effort we put into playing your game.

But…may I take this opportunity to ask when we are going to see a return of the old “standard” target that we have shot for the past 15 years or so.

As you know there are potentially three versions of the IR target in use at this time. The two newer printings have smaller X dots and thinner rings, plus the spacing of the rings is not what it used to be. Also the paper thickness varies greatly between the three versions. Not a good situation in a game that relies on precision and consistency.

I hope that by next year we are all shooting the same target across the country.

Yours respectfully, Al

New Target, OLD RECORDS SHOULD BE FROZEN, and new records set. Just think, all you that have never set a record have a chance now. At least for one target.

Wilbur,
I have to agree with Al on this one. I shot my first 250 20 X this weekend on the smaller X and 10 Ring. The second target 249 20X and the third target my second 250 18 X. 749 58 X I was super happy.
Today I compared the new target with the old. If we were using the old target I would have picked up 1 point and 3 X's. Three 250's for a 750 with a 61 X count.
I have no problem when everyone uses the same target at a match but to me with three different targets in use (light weight paper small X and 10 ring) (Heavy paper small X and 10 ring)(Old Targets BIG X and 10 Ring)

Of the 6 targets I shot only one target score would have been the same. With an increase of 5 points and 6X's if the old targets had been used!

I was genuinely thanking folks that shot anywhere and under any sanction rather that just 50/50.

Technology caught us on those targets. The newer targets don't have "bleed" and I do believe the "X" is round as opposed to the older lopsided X. True, folks still shooting the older targets have a 6 thou advantage (per Dave's measurement) but hopefully those supplies will deplete quickly and all will be on the same page. By now, the lighter weight target should be used for warmup and practice as I have replaced so very many of those.

Again, every record shot fired, regardless of where, helps those that sacrifice their weekends in advance to give us a place to shoot. Thanks for coming out...!
