I am either going to sell my 36x leupold and buy a 45x leupold, or have this 36x boosted up in power just a bit. I am not sure who would do this type of work now, or what it might cost. Mr Siebert, before he passed replaced the 1/8th" dot in this 36x i have with a 1/16" dot. I like the 1/16" dot very much. I didnt have him booste the 36x when he had it and I wish i would have now. If i sell this 36x and buy a 45x, i will still need to find someone to replace the 1/8th" dot for a 1/16" dot, so it looks like work will be needed either way. Lee

Skeet,
I think tou should give Bill Ackerman a call, 915-740-4290. If theres anyone that is capable its Bill, you can also look up Optical Services Company on the web as he does have a website. Good luck.

Some one was tyelling me that Bills Daughter does all the work now? Not that this is a bad thing, just curious. Lee

No it,s not a bad thing. She does most of the work now. Bill is going to totaly retire soon. Cheryl is just as good as Bill. She was taught by her Dad.

Wayne,

The Leupold 36x doesn't have a threaded eyepiece, so you would be limited to a slip on booster lens. I'm not convinced that they would have the necessary precision.

Skeet, if you want that scope boosted, leave it lying around & I'll boost it quick as a flash. ;)

I'de try the Bulls Eye. They have several different powers that slip on the eyepiece of the Leupold 36.

A fair percentage of "boosted" scope owners don't like it. Something about the eye relief.....

i have a bulseye pro on my 8.5-25 luepold. it is a 30 mm tube..it is a screw on. it is currently a 11-32x with a 3x "booster"( so more like 1.3 of original). i like mine and have no issues with light. on the other hand a 36x with its 1" tube might. you should be able to get decent money on the 36x..well except for the economy and yo mama...

i had to basically give one away this year.

I think Mike nailed it.

The complaints I've seen about boosted scopes have been exclusively 1" tube ones, Weaver 36xs. I've put a 40% boost on a VXIII 8-25 (which worked until my presbyopia buggered up my myopia prescription). I'm currently running a 35% boost on a NF 8-32 & 30% on the VXIII. Bear in mind that these scopes are used primarily for 300-1200 yard belly shooting.

Eye relief can be critical, but the most important issue is to take note of their suggestions for selecting power boost according to how you focus the crosshairs without boost.
