looking to get my first rimfire benchrest rifle.
which would you get:
1) cooper tpr-3 or 2) remington 40xrbr?
i am leaning towards the cooper. recent remingtons i know of have had their
problems.
i already have a brno mod4 but would like to move a step up.
any feedback would be appreciated even if you suggest another rifle.

What state are you from? Go to a match and see whats wining.Never sell a 40x short I know a fellow that did that once and he is still trying to live that one down :>} Jerry

i am from canada, manitoba to be exact. there is centerfire matches near here but no rimfire that i know of. i won't compete anyway just want a more
accurate rifle than i already have.

Hi, I have owen both and still have the cooper. that is because the cooper has a very low serial number. The 40x did shoot better and has a better lighter trigger, also the jewell trigger is avalible.

forgot to mention that i shoot left handed so stock choice becomes an issue.
i do prefer right handed actions though as all but one of my rifles is right handed.

I contacted Allan Arms, they are sold out of the Suhl 150's.

between the two rifles you asked about. The 40X is heavier but you can get a TRP3 new and can make your own mistakes. In all fairness, it often isn't the rifle: it is the shooter/ammo combination. In today's IR50/50 match at my club, 1st place was a factory stock TRP3 with a Jard trigger and Hoehn tuner, 2nd place was a TRP3 identical to 1st place and 3rd place was a Calfee smithed re-barreled custom rifle (No, I don't know what it used to be but it sure isn't anything like the original anymore). Either rifle, in good condition, will serve you well. Buy one and learn the ammo it likes and practice shooting it. Trigger time is probably more important than the rifle's pedigree. Just my $0.02 (And that's only about 1.65 cents Canadian thanks to the current administration and it's fiscal irresponsibility) worth.
