Hi-I'm relatively new to 50yd. .22LR benchrest and need some advice on an economical front rest. Am currently considering Caldwell Fire Control but see too many mixed reviews. I'm shooting a Savage MkII, which most of my club competitors also shoot. Your comments appreciated. Thanks, RC.

When I'm shooting my mkII at club matches I use my little Caldwell Rock jr. Seems to fit it fine.

And do this mod if you want to reduce any slack in the windage.

Consider range/benches

Some ranges shoot out windows and a slingshot rest may not let barrel extend over edge.

Thanks..

Last year I also used theirRock Jr. But am looking for something better w/o spending mega$$$. Thanks tho..

Great advice! Thanks...

Last year I used the same Bald Eagle rest for ARA Benchrest with my Winchester 52B and was very pleased. However, I will take your advice give here and make this mod. to the windage.( although I got along pretty well with it. I could not use it with my Mk II as it was way too small and loosely rested in the bean bad. Not good. Now, Iwill attempt to guy just the center portion and use a dedicated, smaller sand bag for the MkII. Thanks for your good advice. Happy shooting...R.C.
