Which Chronograph and why?

What Chronograph should I buy and WHY? Price around $300.
What do you use and are you happy with it?
I need to get a new chrony my old one has not worked for about two years now and I need one again.

I bought a Chrony when they first came out. Way back when. It's still working. I turn it off and put tape over the sensor holes when I'm not using it. I guess it's close to 20 yo. It tells me how fast my bullets are going and from there I can figure out a lots of stuff. But that's all it does. No remote, no 'puter hook up, etc.
I like the Chrony because it put chronies within reach of ordinary shooters and after they came out, the "big boys" decided they didn't need to charge as much as they thought they did.
I have "proofed" mine against the higher priced ones and also with match .22 ammo and it seems to work just fine.
It's the only one I've ever owned so I can't compare it to any others.

I have an old f1 chony that still works as good as day one but the one I use most is a gamma chony master which has the remote display, it also came with a printer that works as a remote control also but I only hook it up when I get back to the house and print out the results, when it prints it gives me the high, low, and avg. vel. along with s.d of the load. to be honest it will do a lot more than I use. For the price you just can't beat it imoa.
No shooter or reloader should be without one, I feel like my reloading isn't complete till I have tested the accuracy and measured the velocity of the load.

Thankyou for your kind replies. My old Chrony was quite good until it stopped working . The Gamma Master Chrony looks good but I don't have any house power avaiable where I test fire . So I want a chrony that runs only on batteries . I am thinking of a type that has the readout seperate from the screens. I found this one but dont know anyone who has one.
What do you think of this cronograph ? http://www.cedhk.com/show.php/Object29

The Chony works off a 9 volt battery, the printer takes 4 AA batteries but has a port for a power cord for when you get home. the master has the readout/controls that sits on your shooting bench.

Pact Professional for the ballistics charts/tables etc.

The only problem I have with it are the Skyscreen housings, they aren't very strong - they don't hold up too well against a .338Lapua Magnum. I forget to hold over.

Thanks RePete I did think of a Pact unit but after reading some reviews on them on Midways site that sell them I was turned off Pact .
I don't need the ballistic charts part of the Pact chronograph because I work with my own custom bullets which arn't in any ballistic library.
All I need is good accurate velocities really.

Thanks tgp , The Master chrony I found had screen lights that ran on house power so I was unsure if it ran without these screen lights?
I really wanted to get right away from any electronics in or around the sensor unit except the two sensors .
With the MASTER CHRONY MODELS , the LCD-readout and **most ** of the Electronics are located in a separate, small housing, the Control Monitor.
I am leaning toward one of these CED M2 units but still unsure. They say that the unit has Auto off after 30 minuets . This could be a pain in the neck when checking velocities at 100 yards and reloading in between if the unit cuts off all the time. Has anyone out there got any experience with the CED M2 Chronograph?

I have a CED M2 and like it very much. The auto shut off feature has never caused me a problem. I don't have the instructions with me but I think the auto shut off is longer then 30 minutes. The manuel can be down loaded from the web site. I like it a lot better then my old pact MKIV. The software to download the info to the computer takes some getting use to if you have never used a spread sheet. I do kind of miss not being able to print the data and staple it to the target or my loading records at the range. I have to wait until I go home and down load and then print.

Thanks SooStan , I thought about a Pact also but the review comments on the Midway site scared me off a bit.
I would be just as happy entering the ballistic data in a range book so the lack of a printer does not worry me personally although I can see your point a printer is convenient . I have found the instruction manual missed it before thanks.
