Dear Shooters, Dear Friends,
I'm Andras Szerdahelyi from Hungary from other side of the world. I'm absolutely beginner in rifle shooting but interest me very very much!
I would like to request a litle help for starting for rifle rebarreling. I have four Heym rifles from Germany in caliber 338 win.mag; 257 weath.mag;
308 win; 8x57 JS. I do not want to change calibers, just the barrels. I do not know which company produce the best quality barrels for me.
My so big problem is that I need lot of paper and permit to import the barrels and no chance to try different brands. I need the best I do not care the
price just the quality must be no.1. My favorite the 338 win.mag. I use for really long range hunting in Africa in foreign countrys and home for big games.
I use mainly 200-225 gr. and sometimes 250 gr. and I need a very accurate moly chrome barrel 26.8" for this hunting but must be a very heavy octagon because it's a wonderful engraved rifle. My second favorite the 257 Weath. Mag. I use for very very long range hunting on mountain or Rhoe hunting in horizontal area. I use only 100-115 gr. bullets and I need a most accurate, thick, 26" stainless steel barrel and not octagon. My third rifle the 308 win. I use only for target shooting for long range. I use 150-180 gr. bullets and I need an extreme accurate stainless steel barrel 26" or 28" not octagon. My fourth rifle the 8x57 JS I use in driven, tracking, forest on short range area. I use mainly 195-230 gr. bullets and I need a very accurate moly chrome barrel 21" and must be very heavy octagon because it is a very nice engraved rifle. The octagon look like very nice and harmonize with engraved rifles.
I saw many barrel makers on the market but sympathetic were the Shilen, Pac-Nor, Broughton and the Lilja but I don't know which is the best.
So these are what I have and these are what I use please let me your judgement in reply and help me to choose!
My dream that my rifles rebarreling with the most accurate barrels but I don't know nobody who has a big knowledge about precision shooting!
Thank you your help in advance!
