Where to measure bullet runout?

Where is the correct place to measure bullet runout? As of now, I am measuring at the junction of the end of the ogive and start of bearing surface(is there a name for that place?) Where is the correct place? Based on thread searches, I assume .001 or under is acceptable - correct?

I always try to get the dial indicator tip as close to the projectile tip as possible. You are trying to measure the runout (or wobble) in the projectile and given the runout will be at it's least at the neck of a properly sized case the runout will logically indicate the greatest movement further away from the neck.

Another assumption made in this reply is that you are using match grade BR pills that were checked for their own runout before the loading process.
 
Thanks Alex. Your answer makes sense. Yes, I am using Lapua brass sorted by neck runout and shooting BIB 67 gr bullets. I did not check the bullets though prior to loading. Thanks again for your help.

Apology up front

A seemingly sarcastic answer would be to measure runout on the target. As evasive to the intent of the question as it appears, it may be the better answer all said and done.
 
I measure to the Ogive. I use my Stoney Point OAL gauge. This tool sets the bullet into the lands. With a comparator on my caliper blade, I take a measurement so I can then set my bullet either into the lands or off the lands. Measuring to the tip does nothing for me.
