Where to find lead slugs for barrel sizing

I have a rimfire barrel that I suspect has a tight spot somewhere and would like to push some lead plugs through it, ala the Bill Calfee process, to see if there actually is a tight spot, and where it is located.
Do I have to make these slugs myself, or is there a source for them ??
Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Quigley

I believe most people pull the bullets from live rounds...atleast that is how I have always done it...

I'd be glad to do it, but I don't know how to without destroying the shape. Can you explain your method?? Rich Q.

This subject came up several years ago when Mr. Calfee wrote three articles on slugging barrels. Simultaneously with this a fried of his was selling the slugs on the in packs of 10. They were valued because of theit softness. At about that time the supplier for the rod tip (a stainless steel tip with a rounded end) went out of business. Denny Phillips sent me two stainless steel tip- what a guy. As noted, most people don't like to pull bullets. If you like, I'll give you 20 slugs-that should be enough for 2 barrels. It woulso be wise to get Mr. Calfee'sa articles on technique. Just ned a mailing address if you want them.

The softer the lead the easier, but all I do is just grasp the cartridge with your fingers and pry the bullet out by working it back and forth with your hands...not always the easiest thing to do, but it works...

lead slugs

fcholmes, If you say so, I will give it a try. Who would think it would be that simple. I guess I'm always looking for the most difficult way to do things ! Thanks, Rich Q.

Bob, I just read the first of thehthree articles by Bill Calfee in the Team Calfee book. It was right there in the index !! Surprise !!!
Lead Head, I don't know Bob Collins, might you have any contact info ?? Thanks to you both for responding. Rich Q.

Just take a pair of needle nose and pinch right behind the bullet ,it will pop out.

Thanks Paul, I'll give him a call. Gerald, I like the needle nose pliers method. It works real good. LIB!!! Thanks, Quig

Does the rod tip have to be stainless steel? I have a brass tip that I have modified -why would that not work as well. garrisone .

I got no answer to my question about a brass jagg I modified to push lead sluggs through a barrel so I will try to find out myself if it is possable to push slugs with my brass jagg. I exspect that it will work. Before the slug is put in the chamber do you have to lubercate the barrel or push the slugg dry through thr barrel. Thanks for the help. garrisone.

I use a brass jagg that has had the point removed so that it is flat on the end, as far as lube goes I use ammo that has lube on the bullets and push it through a clean barrel.

Poke the bullet into the end of a barrel then pry on the case if you can't wiggle it out with your fingers.

This is about as dangerous as carrying spare cartridges in a pocket while hunting.

How 2

:)
How about a cf 22 bullet mold.
cast
a few slugs,Think they run about 55 grains
don't use any lube on the slug.
And slug away..Measure when the exit the muzzle.
