What's wrong with this???

I found a slightly collectible (depending upon your viewpoint) rifle on one of the internet sites: price is right, condition and model are appropriate to my interests. The seller wants only to be paid via credit card - no USPS money order or any other certified funds regardless of his holding them until payment clears. Now the actual owner of the business is not available to talk on the phone - only his hired hand who is only following 'company' policy. The employee says they only do internet sales and have had too much trouble with payment forms other than credit cards.
I'm not a particularly suspicious sort but this sounds out of the ordinary. The web site is GunBroker which has no feedback function - only a count of successful sales. I used to do a lot of buying out of Shotgun News until I got burned by a fellow (named Jim Kawa-still remember his name after 30 years) and I'm somewhat wary. Thoughts???

Gunbroker has been around for a long time. I have bought a few guns from there. I have never paid by credit card, mostly by postal money order.
There is a feedback function on the site listed with there name. If they have not had any feedback I would be cautious but other than that you should be good.

Anyone that wants a credit card, which they pay a fee on, versus a certified check or money order appears to be fishing for credit card numbers. Be very wary, especially if the deal is too good to be true.

To be honest I would rather use a cc since if there is a problem with the sale you have recourse in contesting the charge.
With the money order once you send it your stuck if your not happy or you are not sent what you ordered or anything at all.
If its a problem with not having a credit card that is easily solved by getting one of the gift card types and adding funds to it. Its a last resort and not near as safe as using one of your own.
