What to use when cleaning SS barrel surface?

I recently purchased a Browning Stainless Steel A-bolt and the outside barrel surface needs cleaned. There are also a few scratches on the barrel that I would like to remove. I was wondering what I can use to remove the scratches and to clean the barrel?
 
Suggestion

You may be able to use a 3M green scratchie pad which are available in grocery stores.

I have used them to touch up shinny spots on SS guns. They usually match the finish very well. Just test it by trying on an unexposed part to the barrel first.
