What scope for airgun benchrest

What would be the recommended scope for 25 yard airgun benchrest shooting? I have a spare Swift 8-32, but would be willing to get a Bushnell 4200 8-24 or 8-32. May eventually want to shoot Field Target also. This would be going on a Mac 1 Hunter .177. Thanks.

scope

I have a bushnel 6-24 on my Mac-1 and it seems to work fine but I think the swift would work also. The PCP guns are not as hard on scopes as the spring loaded guns are.

I have a Tasco 8-32 that I have used for CF, RF and AG BR matches. I also have Leupold and Weaver 36x BR scopes. At 25 yds the optics are much less critical imo. For now use what you have and use the money you save for a better rest and bag or windflags.

Anything that you use on rimfire or centerfire will work just fine on pcp or ssp type air guns, provided that you can set the parallax to the 25 yard or less distance.
If dealing with a springer, standard scopes not rated for air gun spring systems will be trashed in fairly short order due to the reverse recoil of the piston/spring assembly.
In the case of field target, the side adjustable parallax units are favored for ranging purposes.

My favorite scope for airgun benchrest is the Weaver T-36.

I also have an Air Arms S400MPR-FT that I use a Sightron SIIB 6X-24X on and it works very well set at 24X for 25 yard benchrest shooting and I mostly use this gun for 25 yard indoor matches. I know nothing about the Swift 8X-32X however if you have it and its a scope you like then I'd expect it should work as well as any of the other 24X or 32X scopes for you...

However if you are planning to buy a new scope, I highly recommend the Weaver T-36 or the Sightron 36X competition scopes.

I have a Weaver 36X with magnifier that makes it 45 X, that I use on my Anschutz 54 for 50 yard benchrest and it is great for that, but seems like overkill for 25 yards. It seems that 6-24 would be good for 25 yards and also field target. So I am leaning towards the Bushnell 4200 6-24. Thanks.

To my way of thinking the Weaver T-36 without the magnifier is perfect at 25 yards...

At AGBR matches, I've had other shooters hunker down behind my gun and look through the T-36 and comment how perfect it is. I find the 24X is very usable but the 36X is much nicer to use and I do agree that more power than 36X would be overkill. However the T-36 works so well for AGBR I've just bought a second for my new AGBR gun which you can see in a picture in post #33 of my thread, "Rifle for for Airgun Benchrest?" that shows my new gun with the T-36 on it...

However, I have to ask, What is wrong with the Swift 8X-32X, if you have it why not use it?

Happy shooting,
Mitch & Shadow...

I currently have the Swift on one of my AR-15's. If I use that on the Mac 1 then I still need to get a new scope for the AR-15. I doubt the Swift is up to the quality of the Bushnell, so that seems to be the choice if I go with an 6-24.

6-24x42 Barska Varmit Mil Dot

Used this cheapo ($75) in my first Bench Rest match...A36 targets at 50 yards outdoors....my thinking was go cheap to get a feel...then upgrade later...to my surprise the cheapo worked rather well.....plan to give it more some time....:D
