I was taking the stock off my rifle and this piece fell out. For the life of me I can't figure out what it is or where it goes. It just doesn't seem to fit back in anywhere, but I know it isn't just spare parts. HELP
It is a Weatherby Vanguard in 204.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I have a Weatherby Vanguard in the shop now. I'll take it apart and see if there's such a piece in it and let you know.

Thank you. This is driving me buggy.
BTW that is a US quarter in the pic to give you and size estimate.

Does it fit in the back of the magazine to work as a spacer, to hold the cartridges to the front of the magazine box.
Is there a slot on each side of the back of the magazine box?

How does the rifle shoot?

There was no such piece in my Vanguard. Turn the stock over (magazine up) and see if that shim fits anywhere under the floorplate. I'll bet it does.

Since mine is a .270 Hal's suggestion may very well be correct. If you keep looking you'll find a nook this 'cranny' fits.

Thanks Hal !!

I would have never figured that one out on my own.
There are 2 slots in the bag of the mag and the little odd ball piece slid right in.
Thank you so much, I feel a lot better about things now.

Yes I have, I feel much better about doing so knowing that was not an essential piece.
I'm in the process of working loads looking for the sweet spot.
