What is a decent rangefinder?

Can I get a decent rangefinder for under $250.00?

I just bought a lot of reloading equipment and don`t have any extra money.
 
I would agree with Dustin. The new Bushnell Scout 1000 rangefinder is a very nice rangefinder in your price range.
 
How accurate is the Bushnell Scout 1000 , Say at 500 & 1000 measured yards. On a clear day with a target like a large deer or cow or similar.

I can't find any accuracy testing information on them.

Be a great project for a farmer with a few cows just measure out the distance and drop a bale of feed , Then sit back and range the cows as they are eating.
 
I believe Natchez has Bushnel 1000yd range finders on sale for 199.00 Can't beat that deal. I think it's in their sale flyer.

According to Bushnell's website, the Scout 1000 has an accuracy of +/- 1 yard.

I ordered my last scope from the optic zone, great prices and service.

I am about 95% sure that I will order the Bushnell 1500 Elite rangefinder.
$330, and ranges to 1500 yds, says Bushnell. It will be used at the range, varminting, and for hunting.

It just sounds too good , you know what I mean.
+ & - "1" yard at what range ? or is that from 100 to 1000 yds.?
It would be nice just to get a real world field test by an unbiased person.

I wish they were paying me:p
shooting a reflective target it is good to 1000yds. a non-reflective target is considerably shorter so be sure to not get one thinking you're gonna range a tree or deer at 900yds. and it is +/-1yd. not +/-1% so that is at the reading- +/-1yd
 
Dusty is right. The Bushnell is good for about 400 yds on a deer like animal. You are going to have to get in the $500 range wholesale to get a decent one. I have a friend that is a dealer and long range hunter. He has tried most all brands.

Thanks for your reply but I am not understanding what you are saying.
I do know about reflective and nonreflective targets.
Could you rephrase your answer please.
 
Not speaking for Dusty, but without a higher quality unit and having it on a tripod, you may get a reading off something else. You should be able to buy a 1200 Leica for $500 on the net. It works.

butch put it in different better words. and I was also saying that mine is not a biased opinion. that is the only piece of bushnell equipment I own and I own it because it was a gift. all I was saying is that it works real well. just don't think that a 1000yd rangefinder will work at 1000yds. it only has a 2x lens on it. but for hunting and ranging targets for practice it works extremely well for the money. one good thing about it is that if you're not still enough or it's confused about what you're aiming at it will not display just anything like some I've seen.
 
Ok, mine has never done better than 890yrds on a reflective target and that would be a truck or RV. Best on a muley was 430 yrds.
 
Rangefinders

I agree with Butch (how did that happen??). I have used my Leica LRF 1200 for two or three hunting seasons and it works like a champ. Finally had to change the battery this season. It works for me on deer, turkey, hogs and coyotes. No complaints, I would buy another one.

I was not saying "You " were biased.
I was talking about any person that may want to do a test.
A "Test" by an unbiased person. Not an advertising blurb.
No reference to anyone intended at all .
 
Well I ordered two of the Bushnell Elite 1500 rangefinders from TheOpticZone. this is the second time that I have ordered from TOZ and the lady was very nice. Now I wait. :D
