What happened at Cool Acres last Saturday?

Team Lowman won three pieces of wood, Ray Lowman, Daryl Renagar, and Michael Chambers, unfortunately, yours truly lost in the shootoff!!!! Good shootin' Waverly! I guess im slipping!! Damn it was a long ride home with the three of them. Waverly Mcneil, Mike Wilson (2), Larry Bryant, and I am forgetting someone. I appoligize to who it is, like I said, I'm slipping. I think there was 13 or 14 shooters, 75 degrees, wonderful weather , but gusty winds... Shannon L

Hi Shannon,

Thanks for the information. Looks like Waverly got that .338 going. I'm going to try & make a match at Cool Acres before the first Butner match. Same old equipment for me, though (I did get a new scope).

Maybe we can clean their clocks next time.

Hey Charles, I tried calling you on the way down, I couldn't get ya! Waverly took it to me with his 6.5/ 284! We would love to see you next month!

Charles, I did not conduct a controlled experiment. I've been fighting strep throat, flu etc most of this month. I did shoot the 338 first match. I had Norma brass already prepped, and RL-25 already weighed out. So all I did was shoot the Scenars 5 off of jam. So there was no testing. The 338 shot 11 inches, but a 94 score, and thats how I won the relay. My shoot off target looked like buckshot with 2 out of score rings, and 53 score. When I got home I found a loose front rail, and my front bag was moving as well. Once again good score not so good group( but not in the shootoff). I wanted to try the Bergers, but I'll have to jump them about .050.

Second match I shot my 6.5-284 Shehane. That wasn't pretty either. I think another 11 incher and a 84 score. Believe it or not the 11 incher got me a group win. The shoot off was 8.4 and that was good enough.

I would like to thank Eric Allread, and Mike Wilson for a good time and a well run match.

Waverly McNeill

I would like to thank all that attented the match at Cool Acres. We had 2 great matches with a first time winner, Troy Cliett. Troy won a heavy gun match with a 223 improved, who said life is fair? The weather was perfect as well as shooting and a well run match, thanks to Eric Alred. We would like to see all of our 1k shooting friends at our next 2 matches on Feb. 18. There is a good opertunity for some really small groups at this range. Once again, THANKS to all that attended, and most of all, ALL are welcom. Thanks, Mike P. S. sorry you got roughed up Shannon

Good enuf, Mike.

How about posting the results somewhere? Would be nice to see.

Now, how about your coming back to shoot with us at Carolina?

P.S. Is there camping at the Cool Acres range? Or are those bedrooms mentioned on the web site for rent? I can't make it all the way to Savanna by leaving early on match day.
