What freebore length....

works best with a 284 Win. and the Berger 168gr.? Is there a (do all) freebore length that would possibly work with the 168's,175's and 180's? Thanks

I have no clue except to say that I can't see any reason for there NOT being a do all for those three sizes, they're not far apart.


What I've done with 6MM's and 30's is spend an extra 140bucks for a hand throating reamer and ordered the reamers with zero freebore. Then just set your freebore by hand.

But hopefully this will spur someone to reply to your specific question, wish I could help

I have mine set up with a .092 free bore and that is about right for 140 grain bullet. A guesstimaton on my behalf would be about .150 for the heavier bullets but I would call Dave Kiff to be sure. He is a wizard at figuring freebore.

Not a .284 win. but

I'm running .170" free bore on a 7/300wsm. It was set up for the 168/180 Berger VLD's. Dave Kiff ginds all my reamers and .170" was at his reccomendation. So far, he's been dead nuts on his reccomendations.
