What do you you use to glue a action in the stock

I have a sleeved Remington 700 that was glued in the stock. The bedding looks great and it looks like their is a clear glue or epoxy on parts of the sleeve . The action came loose from the stock.

I use Brownell's original Acraglas. Sand the old bedding, clean the metal... wipe with Acetone or Lacquer thinner... not lighter fluid or anything else with petroleum in it.
 
Be very, VERY.......................

careful with that. Use that in a well-ventilated area, and I'd wear industrial gloves, heavier than household-type, that go up mid-forearm.

good points , but I did say "soak it overnite." Yes, MEK is a powerful solvent. Me being The Safety Geek, I'd suspend it on a wire, outside. I learned a long time ago that when handling solvents it's not a good thing to wake up with the flavor of XYZ solvent in the back of one's throat.... I agree, Don't Get Any On Ya!!!

I just asked about the MEK because I'd never heard of it ,now you got me wondering why the lacquer thinner I've used isnt good enough.

I didnt mind the warning. Its good to know ahead of time what I'm working with. (How many times have I cleaned paint off my skin with lacquer thinner???:eek:)
Every time I've glued one in I wiped the action down with lacquer thinner and used Devcon.
I'm using blued chrome-moly actions these days, will the MEK or the lacquer thinner hurt the finish if soaked over night.

I know lacquer thinner will not affect bluing. I am not familiar with MEK but I suspect it will not either...
