I have a fairly cheap Plano hard case I am using right now, but I can see the need for a better case soon. By the time I am finished I will have nearly $1k in the rifle and scope, etc.
What hard case do most people use? Pelican?

Jim

SKB, I like the single rifle SKB cases. They stack nicely in a car trunk or in the back seat, especially when you're hauling 3 or 4 of 'em.

Airglide upright single

THE AIRGLIDE WILL FIT A VERY LONG GU THEY ARE 52in. AND KEEP GU VERY SECURE. BOER BOK

I use a peli 1750 and am very pleased with it.Top quality but at a price

The aluminum doubles typically found @ Bass or Gander Mtn. are sturdy enough and fit a sporter and 101/2 togeather.

Boyt H series

Check out the Boyt H series cases. They are alot like the Storm and Pelican but with way better latches. Cabelas is the cheapest place to buy them $199

I was at Cabela's last week and thought I saw either a Storm or Pelical case for $219.00.
I have an old Air-Glide shotgun case but I am not sure if a scoped rifle will fit.

Be sure and get one that will float and is Bull***t proof for when it gets to deep at the range.

I have the $15 Sinclair Millenium Rifle leftover that I used to get my gun home. But I think that the what $36 Air Glide would be good enough for any rifle I owned. Unless a case has a guarantee on what is inside it for any reason that you can contemplate....when you're thinking about it when you have $1000 in the rifle.....what works when you have $4000? Imagine having a March $2200 scope on one (I wish I could) but there is no perfect case to protect through all conditions and potential accidents. I wish I had the Air Glide.

When my scope comes in and I get it mounted I will try it in my AirGlide. I bought that case about 10 or 15 years ago. I don't guess they ahve changed much.

I bought a Plano AirGlide for my first BR rifle because I'd seen them at matchs. I really liked it. Couple years ago I was at a state shoot and a guy had two new ones sitting on a table along with a lot of odds and ends. They were still there Sunday afternoon and I got them both for under $40. I have four now. If you've got the room they're great.

My vote goes to a brand named ZERO. I think Browning was selling them at one time. Brushed satin aluminum exterior, top and bottom egg crate foam with a removeable center section which I sawed to the silhouette shape of my bench rifle and scope. It has full length piano hinge, four keyed claw type locks and a four tumbler combination center lock. Pricey, but well worth it. The rifle/scope do not move!

If you're not going to be shipping your rifle or taking it on an airplane, the Plano Airglide is the only way to go, IMO. Scoped, long rifles fit in it just fine. I'm lucky live close to Plano Moulding factory, they have an outlet store there, everything is half price, they don't always have them but when they do the Airglide is $11 and I buy all they have, for friends. Thanks, Douglas

Airline Case

If you are going to be flying I suggest you get a SAF-T-CASE. They are sturdy and light. The Storm and Pelican cases are great cases but they are quite heavy. With my case I can carry my rifle, ammo, cleaning rod and supplies and still stay under the 50lb. limit. This is important because if you exceed the limit it gets VERY expensive. For auto travel, any of the above listed would work. Good Luck, Fred

I don't fly. Can I be your friend? I wonder how much it would cost to ship an $11.00 case?
