Just wondering what the qualifing matches are for the 2013 World Team, and what are the criteria is for making the team?

Thanks,
Lee

Hi Lee

According to the NBRSA web site, the 2012 matches are:

CACTUS CLASSIC, Phoenix, Arizona

SHAMROCK, Dublin, Georgia

EAST-WEST SHOW ME SHOOTOUT, Wright City, Missouri

RATTLESNAKE, Raton, New Mexico

Good luck, and I hope to see you in Australia.

Thanks Fergus, Few more questions.

You didn't mention the NBRSA Group Nationals.., is that not a qualifier? Criteria is the best two out of four matches? ...and lastly, any dates?

Lee I copied and pasted this from the NBRSA website. This was the format for the qualifying matches in 2010 for this years World's taht were held in France.

The point system for the qualifying matches above was voted on by the NBRSA Board of Directors and is as follows.

For matches 1 thru 4 each competitor will be awarded one (1) point for each competitor he/she beats in the LV and HV Grands up to a maximum of seventy five (75) points per grand in matches having at least seventy five (75) competitors. Should a match have fewer than seventy five (75) competitors the actual amount of competitors will be used as the maximum points awarded. The competitors LV and HV grand point totals will be added together to establish their awarded points for that match.

For the NBRSA Nationals each competitor will be awarded one (1) point for each competitor he/she beats in the LV and HV grands regardless of the number of competitors. There are no point restrictions for this match. The competitors LV and HV point totals will be added together to establish their awarded points for the match.

In all qualifying matches the number of competitors in each grand shall be determined by the largest quanity of shooters to shoot at least one (1) group in either yardage of that class. The logic used here is not to take points away from any competitor because shooters begin a yardage and do not complete it for whatever reason. I/E The 2008 Cactus where many shooters began the 200 on Sunday afternoon but with 30-40 mph winds dropped out significantly reducing the formal grand totals.

Final qualifying point totals will be established by using each competitors best three (3) of five (5) qualifying match totals. Based on this system attendance at the NBRSA Nationals will almost be imperative.

Hi Lee

The lack of the NBRSA nationals on the list did strike me as a surprise, but is not listed. Sorry I cant help you on the other questions. In past years the qualifying has generally been best 3 out of 5, with one point for each person you beat in LH & HV. I assume a similar system will apply, but can only echo Calvin's suggestion of emailing Wayne.

Now if you want to know anything about Australia for 2013, that I CAN help you with. :)

My understanding was that the NBRSA Nationals in Phoenix in October 2012 was also a qualifier for the world team.

Lee,

The NBRSA Nationals in Phoenix in October 2012 is the final qualifier. It is the only one of the five qualifiers that is points for ALL competitors you beat. The rest are limited to a MAX of 75 points.

As for dates, Shamrock and Cactus in March, E-W in late June, and Rattlesnake in August.

Hope this helps

David

As a warning to all those who aspire to be on the world team in 2013, beware. I have it on good authority (the man himself) that Larry Baggett will be trying to make the team. Based on his ability as a shooter he is very likely to do so. If you try and succeed also you will be thrown into close proximity with him for at least two weeks. Given this possibility I suggest the following training regimin to prepare you physically, mentally and spirituality: Become a bacon and bible salesman in Saudi Arabia for three months. Ask Rosie O'Donnell out on a date. Be sure to wear your NRA life member t shirt. Get a job in a steel foundry. Don't wear ear plugs and walk around naked. Do this and you may possibly be tough enough to survive two weeks with Larry. Tim

Is that EASY???...:D
