First off congrats to Garry Cox, you shot great at the PSL. It is hard to catch someone that starts off shooting a 2400 on a PSL target!!! Then finishing with a 2320agg., that is good stuff.

Also, congrad to Fred Leeds and Brian Brandt(a 2450 didn't think that could be done).

Dan, Great show, thanks for showing how matches are supposed to be run!!
The scoring program looks like a KEEPER!

Had a great time
Tim

I'll add my congratulations to the winners and heavy hitters. My weekend was less than stellar....I ain't figured out the Barn yet fer sure. I did have fun tho and lots of interesting conversations with old and new friends. Its always a pleasure.

Dan and Dawn are the absolute tops when running a big shoot. 94 shooters and hardly a glitch all weekend. What a grand time we had. The scoring program seems to have matured enough to be reliable.

We must also thank Jeff for hosting the match and Mark Walter for sponsoring the event. bob

Question about scoring?

I saw Dan's comment about using On Target to score but it wasn't clear to me if it was used only for protest shots or on close shots. Were the shots looked at with a plug or only On Target.

I had an extensive conversation with Dawn on Saturday evening, re electronic scoring. I suspect she will jump in here and give details after they get home.

The gist of our conversation as I remember it was every target was first run through the electronic system via the scanner, then suspect or "really close" bulls were reviewed as necessary by one or more of the scoring team.

When the scoring team was finished every real target was hung on the wailing wall with the "scanned" target image stapled to it which showed a magnified image of each bull and of course individual bull and target score.

There were a few targets hung on the wall that had hand written notes so there was some human intervention.

On Saturday there were 50 or so protests and only 2 of those protests were upheld. I did not protest any so was not watching, but all protests were dealt with by only humans I'm sure. There was no computer/scanner nearby. Seems to me the system worked very well and apparently was accurate. bob

Congratulations

Congratulations Garry on your victory at the first PSL Match. You beat alot of the best rimfire shooters in the country. GREAT SHOOTING.

The winners!!!

I think it can be said that all that competed this weekend at the barn were all winners. Dawn, Dan, and the others that worked the event made it a great experience for all of us. PSL and ARA are in good hands!

Garry Cox, you showed us how it is done. Great shooting!!

Fred Leeds, you did great too! Nice follow up to your Nats win! Good talking to you this weekend. I ordered that rest case this morning!

Brian Brandt, great shooting. Who would have thought you would find "that Lot" of ammo at the last minute. Good for you, too bad for us.

See everyone at the next one!

Thanks for the information Bob. I think that answers my questions.

I've been using On Target for a number of years and actually had a number of e mail conversations with Jeff about a few new features which were eventually incorporated into the program. I've had good luck using the program to measure group sizes and actually use the Average To Center measurement to compare ammo lots that are close in group size. I never thought about using it to score but I have tried it and it seems to work well.

Great shoot, Dan. Well run and a pleasure to shoot. Con grats to all the winners. Tim, I was glad to see you shoot well. You did well. Hope to see you soon.
