Weird Harmonic after firing

I just re-barreled my 2013 and after the shot goes off, there is a distinct, very loud harmonic ringing that occurs. This was without a tuner.

With a tuner it was less noticeable, but still there.

I have experienced this on centerfires but never on a rimfire.

What say ye?

Did you clamp the barrel screws down with the same torque? See if the action is flexed or not in firm contact with the bedding. My guess is that the ringing is due to a change in the contact between the barreled action and the stock.

Barrel screws are set at 28 inch/lbs.

Bedding is stress free as all 4 screws tighten quickly with no compression and 20-50 inch/lbs makes no difference in groups.

Check for contact on any of the trigger springs. I have an older Match 54 that literally goes "BOINGGGG" on every shot due to the trigger spring. But then, I kind of like it.

Stock

What kind of stock is it in? I had a Suhl do that same this with a LeeSix Stock. It was hollow in places, and developed a crack. Foam fill the hollow spots, and the Booooooinnnnng went away.

It is a walnut stock. No contact on trigger and stock.

I am going to be changing the barrel on my Annie 2013 soon as well.

One thought I have which it may or may not make a difference is, but could you have possibly head spaced it to tight and when the firing pin hits the bullet it hits to hard and then resonates though the barrel?

I set the headspace at .043", like always since this is the only gauge I have, and have never had this before. Current barrel is 22" but I have had a 25.5", a 19.7" and a 24".

Now I am hoping I won't have this problem, but won't know till I get the barrel and install it.

Have you tried removing this barrel, install the last barrel in it, and see if that produces the same thing? Maybe just remove the barrel, give it a twist so it inserts different and then try again. It don't hurt to remove and reinstall.

I don't get the ring with the factory barrel, or any of the others except this 22" one.
