Weaver T24 and T36 question

Was reading some threads about these and apparently they have a lock ring on the front AO. Has anybody attempted to adjust one of these to reduce the minimum focus distance? And based on magnification I would assume the 24x would be able to focus closer than the 36x? Curious if they are able to get down to 10-15 yards with adjustment of the AO.

Thanks!

Casey

I have one marked as CT36, and yes it is adjustable by loosening the lock ring and resetting its focus range. I also have another marked t36 it does not have a lock ring. That is not to say that other t36 do not though. This one focuses to less than 10 meters with just the objective bell.

Weaver T series focus adjuctment

I have adjusted a few of em, mostly the older type. None I had would focus really well at 25 yds before i reset them. I made a simple tool by grinding a sawblade til it just fit the slots in the lockring, then backed the front lens out til it was clear at 24yds, then re-tightened the lockring. I hadda do same on a couple old Leupolds too.

How is the lock ring secured? I found a good price on a used T24 and it has the front locking ring but I asked the gentleman about a set screw and he said it didn't have one that he could see. Not sure what to make of that.

Thanks LD. Were the lock ring slots on the outside of the objective bell or inside where the lens is?

Got a close-up pic. Does that screw lock the objective ring or does it just allow you to rotate the bell with the AO markings? Sorry for all the questions guys.

Inside. BTW, I've heard good camera repair guys have an adustable tool ... if you get them to loosen it for you, even a skinnet screwdriver can move it around and tighten it enough for it to work ok.

Adjustment

I have one each both relative new. I can adjust them by hand. I never super tighten them. I dont feel there is need to. Best Tom
