Hi
I know many Benchrest shooters use Weaver Scopes.
Weaver has been sold several times.
You must be the original owner.
The repair station is no longer in Thomasville Ga.
I followed the Warrinty card in the scope box.
Sent it to Thomasville Ga,insured,10/25/08.
After several weeks I tried to contact the repair center in Ga.
Well they moved to Onalaska,Wisconsin.
Got the proper phoner number, was told the Ga.P.O.was forwarding the scopes to them. They didn't recieve it.Tried to track the package on line with no sucess.
Contacted local P.O. was told the package is Somewere.
Called the local P.O. today they were to get back to me yesterday.
Was told thet will try to get back to me today,if they get around to it.
Don't know the status of the package or were it is.
THIS WAS A NEW SCOPE
Return address on the package
Return address on the paper with the explanation of the problem
Return address attached to the scope
Check in the original scope box for the repair

BEFORE you send a Weaver scope!
Call this number-1-800-635-7656
You may not qualify for the warranty work.

If the post office has a valid forward in for the Weaver repair facility they will get it.A valid forward means a year or less has expired and the new correct address has been put on the forward card.

Now for what usually happens in a situation like yours.

You ship the package from your local Post Office to what you think is the correct address in Thomasville. When it arrives in Thomasville the clerk will know it no longer belongs there and needs to forward it out to Onalaska.He/She will mark it up the same day they receive it but unfortunately sometimes it takes longer.

It now goes back on a truck to a PD-C Facility were somebody has to hand scan it in unless it has a pre-printed label on it.If you made your own label and did it in your own handwriting this is often times a bad thing for somebody sitting at a terminal to read while hundreds of packages go by.

If it does get lost in the system however nobody at any of those facilities is authorized to open it up any longer so it goes to Atlanta,Georgia and waits it turn.
When they finaly open it up and can read your handwriting it will come back to you.Unforunately this process takes time and right now the USPS is very busy due to the upcoming holiday season. All of the Christmas catalogs have to get out well before christmas.
I had some bullets get delayed in Chattanooga one time and contacted the dead letter office. They had at that time 9000 pounds of 38 pistol bullets on hand.I enquired about them and was told most people are terrible at packaging things and they had fallen out of the packages they were in.
I suspect it will take atleast 30 days before anything happens as well because these things usually self correct in that amount of time.

Hi Lynn,
After spending several hours on the phone to
The Post Office in Thomasville Ga.The problem is.
The business changed hands several times.2 in Thomasville 1 in Irvine California. My package has been bouncing between these locations. The solution to this, after a chat with the Postmaster of Thomasville,is the new owners in Onalaska Wisconsin must file for a correct forwarding address to the Post Office in Thomasville.I have contacted customer service and told them of this problem. My package is not the only one that was returned as Un deliverable. If you recieve a package as UN-DELIVERABLE You
are not refunded your postage,in my case approximitly $10.00.If the repair station in Onalaska does not PROMPTLY change the address I will be out the postage amount plus 1 month without a scope.
This problem was caused because someone didn't change to a new, correct, forwarding address.
This package has a travling time of over 25 days
Sorry just out of patiance:mad::mad:

Hang in there it will get resolved.
I deal with stuff like this all the time and the main reason it gets wacky is someone didn't want to fill out a very simple piece of paper.
The post office puts a yellow notice on each item sent out for a period of one year.It tells the customer to notify the sender of there new address. Most people ignore this and when the forward expires at one year all there mail gets returned forward order expired. They then call up all upset and claim they didn't get a single notice ever.Truly Amazing listening to them.
In your case most businesses receive enough mail volume that the clerks know all about them. This is a huge plus in your favor.
I just typed in "Weaver Warranty Repair Service" into Google and the first hit that comes up says Thomasville instead of Onalaska. Most well run companies do a better job of updating there site.

You can't ship anything with tighter controls on it than Registered mail.It takes alot longer to get there and costs more to get there but its literaly bullet proof. They even shipped The Hope Diamond via Registered mail.

25 days so far ain't bad as I guessed 30

Just in case anybody reads this never use a used box to ship anything. Most used boxes contain a bar code of some kind on them somewhere and the machines don't know which one is right!!!!! A package can get stuck between locations many times before it is actually figured out.

Weaver in Onalaska

Tom,
Oh you poor soul.Dealing with weaver in onalaska is a real pain.I bought a new t-36 in march 08.The dam thing would not hold zero.Every time I cranked the bolt the setting would change.I did get hold of someone in GA. and was told the phone # of the new repair department in onalaska. The nice lady there gave me a return number and I sent it to onalaska where it sat for 6 weeks.I called and ask how the repair on my scope was going and was told that they did not have a purge machine to drain the gas out of the scope and did not know when they would be getting one.Well after a few more calls They decided to give me a new scope. The story ended well but what a pain. You would think if you were going to do repair work you would have the equipment to do the job.Good Luck
Russ
P.S The new t-36 works great

scope repair(?)

Like everything else in our society, I believe we have reached the age of "throwaway" riflescopes, especially as it applies to the imports made in the PRC. Use it 'til it breaks, then throw it in the garbage can, where it belonged on the day it was bought new. I also have a number of Weavers, especially like the T-24x, have 3, and as yet have not had any problems, but they are all mounted on light-recoiling, small cal. bench rifles. The Leupolds, Burris, Zeiss, etc. will probably remain repairable, since they are of such high quality to begin with. You get what you pay for is never more evident than as it applies to optics. Guy on another site posted a question about what kind of quality he could expect from a rifle scope ( new), that he could buy for $60. DUH! Said he could not pass it up, since it was "such a good deal".

Hello,
This scope was not made in PRC,
it was made in Japan.I didn't pay
$60.00 for it.It was over $300.00
It was mounted on a HEAVY recoiling gun.
10 shots out of a 22 Long Rifle-rifle.
I think Weaver has a real Q.C.problem
I must live in the stone age because I
don't consider an investment of over $300.00
a throw away.:mad::mad:

Weaver scopes

TomR: Sorry, I was not referring to your Weaver, or your problems. As I said, i have 3 of them. Bought the first, used, from Dave Bruno, was so impressed, bought 2 new from Lester Bruno, at $368 each. I realize it's"Monday morning quarterbacking", but a phone call to the repair facility, before shipping, would have prevented a lot of your current problems. Recently sent a Leupold back to have target knobs installed (6.5-20x VX111), but called their service dept. before shipping, and all went smoothly. These companies are being bought and sold so quickly anymore, trying to get one repaired has become a nightmare./ From 12 miles South of Pgh.

HI,
Took several calls, over an hour on the phone to determine WHO or WERE to call and the proper phone number.
Just called Onalaska again.Called several days ago to inform them they had the WRONG forwarding address at the POST OFFIC.I gave them the phone number and the name of the person to get in contact with in Thomasville Ga.I hope I convinced them THEY have a PROBLEM because as of THIS morning they were un-convinced and didn't contact anyone.
Am I MAD-U-BETCHA!:mad::mad:

I had the same problem a couple of months ago. Sent my scope to Georgia waited about three weeks and the scope came back to me.USPS said the mail forwarding had expired. Finally found a phone number for service department in Wisconsin, they told me to send it to them. I had just purchased the scope in March the warranty papers said to send a check for seven or eight dollars but the people in Wisconsin said it was now $15.00. It cost me around $12.00 for postage and insurance both times I mailed the scope. After a three week wait I called to check the status of the scope and was told they would get to it in a few days. A few days later I did receive a new scope. It seems Weaver needs to get its act together

If you go back and read my earlier posts you will see were I said the forward order probaly expired and the last poster confirmed this.
What happens is the postal service sends all of your mis-labeled mail to you for a full year with a little note on it.I would estimate that about 55% of the public never corrects there address and when the year runs out there mail gets returned UAA Undeliverable As Addressed. They had a whole year and never lifted a finger yet they will call the post office and squeal like a stuck hog.

Unfortunately you have been dealing with a poor organization and the Post Office takes the blame for something thats not its fault.

I would recommend you stop by your local post office when they aren't real busy which means never past 4PM and bring your list of phone numbers with you.It will save the clerk alot of work and they can probaly get your scope back pretty quickly.
Keep me informed of what happens.

NO More Weavers for me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought a NEW Weaver T36 about a year ago. When I received it I took it out of the box, laid it down on the cap on my truck and looked across the area, about 100 yards, in front of my house. It was like looking through a fog. I called Weaver, then in GA, and they sent me an overnight call tag to return it, at their expence. They assured me they would send me a NEW replacement the same day they received mine back overnight. Now you would think I would have had a new scope in three days, right????? WRONG !!!!!!!!!!!!! They didn't tell me that they were moving to CA and the three days I was promissed turned into three months. I finally did get a new scope back but by then I had already bought a Leupold, which I should have bought in the first place.

I still have the NEW Weaver T36, anyone want to buy it ???????????????
It will be a cold day in Hell before I buy another of their products.

old story-weaver repair sucks

That's why I bought the Sightron S3 36X benchrest scope instead of the Weaver T.

It's a shame....

How upper management in a company can completely ruin a great companies reputation in short order when in a careless and stupid manner they pay no attention to customer service. And you can bet this foul up on Weaver's part is the result of non-caring, incompetent, management. I feel sorry for Weaver's past excellent service supervisor in Thomasville who was an excellent and caring service representative.

Weaver had one of the best reputations in the target scope world with its excellent T-Series scopes. They were the scope of choice with the high power and small bore rifle silhouette shooters. This was a scope you could bet would follow your adjustment knob changes to perfection (one of the few scopes that would). Now that rep is gone and...probably will never come back. To bad...I'll miss this brand that provided great quality at reasonable cost. I still have and use two T-6's for Hunter Benchrest; here's hoping....

In search of more "X's"....virg

OH WELL!!:mad::mad:
Lessions learned.
Before you buy a scope.
LOOK at the warranty, real close.Lifetime means different things to different people.Keep all reciepts-this is a must.Call the company and VERIFY EVERYTHING.Shipp it over insured.I have found that lifetime for some companies can mean as few as 30 days.Sometime the shipping and handling charges exceed the price of the scope.
If you send it for repairs do not assume it will get there.Be fulley prepared to go through the USPS dance-Hokey Pokey-for 2 months, let them tell you they lost it and cannot refund any more than $50.00,BUT your claim will be send in and they will, might??,get back to you in a couple weeks.
Conclusion.
Before we purchase anything we should look at the price and more importantly the stability of the manufactur. If you look at a foreign manufacture check,do they have a service department HERE in the U.S.
What is there reputation?
There is a another LEUPOLD in my future.Never again anything else.
