Super Tuner from Time Precision Art Coccio

Time Precision makes custom sized tuners for rifles. Art Coccio made one for my .223 bull barrel. You need two micrometer measurements, one at the muzzle and another 1" back. They are made of aluminum with a tight click adjustment. He polishes them up while in the lathe with 0000 steel wool and they look like chrome. I paid $120 at his shop last year. He uses a two pierce sadle clamp tightened down with two #7 allen bolts.
Pros and cons. It does work on rimfire not as well on centerfire. Once adjusted to your ammo choice for the best "sweet spot" you should not remove it. With it installed on a typical 26" barrel the rifle will not fit into a 52 long hard case. I can't find a longer hard case anywhere except a custom built for $300 plus. The muzzle blast will discolor the muzzle end of the barrel. A good foaming bore cleaner will remove the discoloraton. I have a fluted stainless and it will come clean with a couple of soaks.
If you have found your rifles "pet ammo" it WILL improve and shrink your groups. You need to start in similar conditions and fire a few five shot strings without the tuner. Slip on the tuner and tighten down snug and start at Zero position and fire a couple of groups, go to the second setting and test, third setting etc. Do this until the groups start to open again and go back to your best setting. Keep a written record of what your doing on which target.
When you find the "sweet spot" don't change it, don't remove the tuner. Art warned me while in his shop "don't even think of touching his customers tuners. He is a national champion as is his wife many times over. He builds his competition rifles from scratch including the barrels. He builds many 50BMGs in his very extensive 6,000' shop on CNC machines, screw machines etc.
