Want a new 5R or 5C barrel on my Sako

I have a Sako Finnlite in .270WSM. It has a 23” barrel that is .625 at the muzzle and is fluted (15” long flutes). It is 1.12 where the barrel meets the action (1” from the breech end). I want to get a new 5R or 5C barrel in the exact same contour (and fluted) in 7mm so I can chamber for 7mm SAUM. I know that Obermeyer, Bartlein, Rock, Broughton, and Border all do 5R or 5C barrels, and all are top quality. Can anyone help me narrow down my decision of who to go with based on delivery times, ability and willingness to exactly duplicate a light contour fluted barrel, etc.? Feel free to respond to this post or email me directly at flatcoatdad@yahoo.com.

You should call them and get your own answers. Asking us questions that should be directed to the supplier is a round-about way of getting a bad answer and a lot of opinions.

For instance, I called all those folks a while back trying to figure out who to buy from. Tim over at Broughton took the most time to handle my request and three barrels later I couldn't be happier. Does that mean I am a huge fan of Broughton...yes. Does that me he can do what you want...I don't know.

Take the time to call them...you will be happy you did. They all make good/better/great barrels so find who suits you and your situation best.

I know that bartlien will profile the barrel exactly as you ask as long as if does not violate any of their safety guidlines.

5R and 5C

5R is a cut rifle rifling contour shared by many barrel makers. Boots of course gets the US credit for its origin. It dates back to the Germans and the Russians before that.

5C is also a rifling contour used by Tim North at Broughton barrels.
Tim has the 5C registered as a "trademark"

Both are great forms of rifling.
