Local range under massive reconstruction, so I purchased a Walther CP99, .177 cal CO2 pistol, semi auto, 8 rd mag, to shoot in my back yard. It appeared to be a well made pistol that worked for a short time, then I had to put it away to take care of business matters. When I returned to the pistol a month later I started getting all sort of malfs. The trigger would stack hard, sometimes you could pull through it, sometimes it was so locked up I didn't want to break anything, so opened the slide removed the magazine and reloaded. What appears to be happening is that whatever indexes the round mag thingies was also deforming the base of pellets preventing them from firing and tying up the gun.
Calls to the seller Pyramyd Air in AZ [highly touted in Firearm/Shotgun News] indicated that they couldn't care less, exactly the opposite of the amt of time they spent with me BEFORE I bought the pistol and accessories. Pyramyd said contact Umarex, the importer for Walther products. Sent the pistol off to them with one of the CO2 capsules and a small tin of the Meister pellets I was using to help them see what was wrong. The item was quickly returned with the note that the tech had run three mags through it w no problems, hence there was no problem. The tech didn't use my pellets nor did he use the CO2 capsule.
Had a long not pleasant talk w Umarex trying to figure out why they said the pistol was OK when as soon as I got it back it started malfing again.
I waited a week or so and shot the pistol a lot and experienced the same issue. So after MUCH "discussion" Umarex frluctantly sent me a shipping return form and I sent it back. I have no idea what their solution will be but so far this is the worst I have ever been treated in any weapon transaction in my life.
So just throwing it out there for general discussion. Perhaps Umarex will fix or replace the unit, I don't want to prejudice that part of the matter but I was wondering if this is typical in the world of air guns.
thx
