Received the following from Ray Siebert.

My name is Rayner (Ray) Siebert, Wally's son. I am sending this to everyone in dads contact list. Two weeks ago we took dad to the hospital and yesterday he passed away. He had a triple by-pass 20 years ago and in the last few months we had made several trips to the hospital with him, this time his body could not recover from heart and lung disease. Thank you to all who have been good friends and family over the years. He will be greatly missed.

Wally was a legend in benchrest circles with his scope power conversions. He converted numerous Lyman, Leupold and other makes of scopes to higher power than original. We wouldn't be using the high power scopes that we use now except for Wally's pioneering efforts in scope modification. The benchrest circle is once again diminished. Wally will be missed.

I didn't know Mr Siebert personally, but he did do some work for me last year. He was real kind, and a pleasure to talk with on the phone. I am sure he will be missed. Lee

Amen to this. I recall having him modify a 20X Lyman to 30X and I thought I owned a miracle. He will be missed.

Years ago I bought a clever bore inspection scope from him.
He sure was a nice guy and took the time to answer a few questions.
He was a great guy and will be missed .

Wally's passing is a real loss to the shooting world. His expertise with scopes was legendary. Him along with Bill Ackerman were for many years, the only solution to scope modifications and problems. He sure will be missed.

My sincere condolences,
