There is someone in Florida who sells Swarovski and Leupold variable scopes who tells his customers that these scopes have been 'refined' by Wally Siebert, and he charges in excess of $900.00 for these 'refinements!
Just learned that he has also sold at least one Zeiss scope with those 'refinements' that were also done by Wally Siebert.
For the record,I have never worked on a Swarovski scope or on a Zeiss scope and the only modification I have ever done on Leupold variable scopes is to replace/change crosshairs!
The gentleman who brought this to my attention bought one of these 'refined' scopes and upon checking with me and finding out that I had indeed NOT done what was claimed, took it back and luckily got his money back.
About ten days ago this same guy sent me a Leupold VX-II 6X18 that a friend had bought from the same shop and asked me to check out this scope and tell if any modifications had been done to it.
There were some hen scratchings on the turrett and they were supposed to indicate that:
#1 there was an etched on glass reticle installed
#2 it had 'stretched' eyerelief
#3 the optics were 'refined'(whatever that means?)
#4 the tube was replaced with a titanium tube
#5 the optics were 'screw locked'
Upon going through the scope I found that there were absolutely no changes made to this scope(except for the hen scratching/engraving),and it was indeed nothing other than a straight factory Leupold VX-II 6X18!!
So,unless there is another Wally Siebert that does scope work,my name is being used to perpetrate fraud!
If you have bought one of these 'refined' scopes, you have been scammed and you better ask for your money back!!
