I see Melvin Eck cleaned house yesterday at Wallkill.Was he shooting one of Gordons new heavy barrels?
 
Congrats Melvin! Especially great sporter score!!! I wasn't at that shoot but Melvin usually shoots his sporter in all events.
 
Bill,
I heard he was shooting a new heavy gun but could get no details.Gordons not talking.You know most of the shooters,see what you can find out.

Just like last year with the sporters.Everyone was kicking my a-- until I got mine.I'm trying to get a head start this year.

You're correct.These barrels are brand new. They are 5 groove and not "MI". Gordons been working with them since the beginning of the year.Right now Gordon has a number of these barrels being tested in the field.Besides Mel Eck there are several heavy guns and several Sporters. How do they shoot?I shot my Sporter for the first time at Wilderness Road on June 5th.Score was 249-18x and the one I missed was my fault.I hope to do better when its broken in.I can't answer for the other shooters but perhaps they'll post their opinions.The developement has been interesting.With button rifled barrels the land and groove corners are radiused.With cut rifleing the corners are sharper and therefore bullet engraving is sigificantly different.This requires the chamber configuration and the land diameter at each end need to be adjusted compared to a button rifled barrel.I'm sorry I can't tell you more at the present time.I'm expecting my heavy gun any day and I'll post the results after I shoot it.

No relationship - i do appreciate you and Ernie's reply. My google search did not turn up Rock Creek, thanks for the link, I though "rock creek" was the next event coming up - i told you i was dumb, lol. Jack C
