Vortex Viper 6-24X50mm PST FFP scope?

Mr. Kelly,
The Vortex Viper scopes are far from your reference of a "Chinese" scope....

GT40,
I rate that model as good or better then a Leupold.......
But bare in mind the FFP.....You might actually not want the FFP such as the fallowing model:
http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-viper-pst-6-24x50-riflescope-with-ebr-1-mrad-reticle
For targeting scenarios, I don't feel you would like the FFP option.
For tactical/hunting then you may want the FFP.

Happy Shooting

I already have a 10-40X50mm for target shooting And have always wanted a FFP scope and have read a lot of reviews on their scopes including a for ever warranty that is transferable without a receipt. They will fix it or replace it even if you drive over it with your truck no questions asked. AND it costs almost half as much :) as a Leupold FFP.

PS: Kenton Industries can make turrets for your particular ballistics.

A lot of guys rate it better than Leupold. I won't know until I get it and try it out.

Hey gt40,

Going with the PST, you should have opted for the .1mrad graduation turrets. This way the turrets and reticle are matched and no calculations are needed to convert. Maybe you can change your order.

Just a thought. I plan on the same ordering the scope with the .1mrad turrets.

The Viper MOA turrets match the MOA reticle just like the MIL turrets match the MIL reticle. The reticles are different for each system. They both "work" the same it's just what you are more comfortable with. The MIL is probably better for competition when the distances & targets are in meters. I will be using mine for hunting and for me I think MOA is a better way to go since Kenton Industries will make me new turrets in YARDS. This will compliment my laser range finder in YARDS + the scope with 1/4 MOA clicks and MOA reticle and the measurements of animals in inches so you can still range distance if conditions make laser range finders not work like if it is snowing.

gt40: That is an interesting handle. Are you a fan of the Ford GT-40? If so, you might be interested in hearing about a gentleman in Denver, NC that is building 7 Mark IV Gt-40's with the honeycomb tubs. These vehicles will be to the Ford blueprints except the bodys will be fiberglass instead of aluminum, and the 427 blocks will be aluminum rather than the original cast iron. One vehicle is close to completion and the others are not far behind. If you would like, I can send pictures.

They are tight lipped.....but

Call Vortex and ask them. It probably depends on the model in question.

Here's a close up of one.......

I just got off the phone with Vortex. I was told that for the Viper PST scopes the glass comes from Japan. The other components and the assembly come from the Philippines.

Looks good to me. Hope when I get my 6-24x50mm MOA PST FFP it will function as advertised.
