FWIW; AFAIK; IMHO; YMMV; yadda, yadda, yadda.

it is a nice piece. i had a Vanni mount on my H&R 12 when i had it but i dont understand this one. the 82G is already easily scopable as is. not knocking Ken at all i just dont see where the demand is.

Just a few guesses, completely unemcumbered by any pesky facts:

1. While the 82G is easier to scope than the H&R M12, the 11mm round-top grooves will not work with many of the more commonly used rings.

2. The Viani prototype does allow use of any of the aftermarket sights that mount in the manner of the Redfield Olympic/International/Palma sights.

3. I don't know what the exact plans are for this mount, but my Viani mount for the 513T also allows use of any sight that will mount on a Redfield 75 mount.

4. I like the idea of being able to use any ring that will attach to a Weaver base.

5. With the use of an appropriate QD ring, the shooter can potentially switch between iron and optical sights without having to rezero.

6. These mounts are extremely well made, are low-volume production items, and I get the idea that Ken Viani isn't too concerned about achieving volume in the market.

ETA: These are well enough made that I'd probably buy one just to encourage Mr. Viani to keep tinkering with this stuff. I'm always encouraged when someone does something for an admittedly limited market, for whatever reason.

FWIW; AFAIK; IMHO; YMMV; yadda, yadda, yadda.
