I have a bunch of older Winchester USGI 06' rounds on Garand enbloc clips that are in need of cleaning. They aren't bad at all, just a little tarnished, being 1954 dated...I have cleaned about 100 rounds using Noxon, and they came out like new...I used 0000 steel wool, a small dab of Noxon, and did a quick polish, then buffed all signs of the Noxon off with a clean, terrycloth towel........Before I do the remaining 250 rounds, I'm now being told by a friend that I "ruined" them by using an a product with Ammonia in it...
What is the real deal, here?...The rounds look brand new, and their original brass color is back, with no staining, pitting, etc...Is this stuff so toxic that it will melt away brass with a light, 15 second application, or is someone misinformed?...
I could understand if I left the ammo submerged in a vat of Noxon for a few days, but that's not the case...
Any help here would be appreciated.
