USFT Bench Technique

I'm interested in purchasing a different bench rifle. I've looked at pictures and seen a couple of videos online illustrating the USFT rifle.

Looking at the USFT I am wondering if the inertia of the hammer moving through its stroke will cause issues if you prefer to NOT grip the rifle or shoulder the gun. My preference with my current air rifle is to not touch the gun except for the trigger as I squeeze it.

I'd love to see one of what looks like a very fine rifle in person or even try one but I don't know anyone in my locale with one.

Your experience and comments on use of the USFT are appreciated.

I would pose this question to Tim ( of Mac-1) and LD over on the Yellow forum as they are the guys who developed it, or contact Tim at Mac-1 directly. I do know that a couple of the shooters that frequent the FT matches down in Bristol, WI have these. ( Kenosha County club, but the exact name escapes me at present). I have been following the development of the usft and talked to Tim in the past and have been taking a wait and see method with this unit. I am local to you, look up Mr. B's Blades in the ph directory, and give me a jingle , Chris.
I get enough junk calls now so that is why I am not listing the number.

Buying air rifles is like buying cars. Would you trust the salesman trying to sell you one or a SERIOUS BR shooter that has had one on the bench for a year or two?

I have a serious USFT with a ton of tube test data that is being shot free recoil for sale that aggs in the ones.

Shadowalker: I sent an email earlier today and I got a bounce response indicating a mailer error from your end.

I'm curious why your rifle is for sale and of course your input on using it free-recoil as you mentioned would be good to hear as well. Thanks.

If Frank doesn't answer your e-mail you can call him at 903-734-3667. I get the same mailer error when I try to send him something.

The hammer is very light. As the gun may be dryfired (no pellet and no appreciable air use) without harm by swinging the breechblock out of line with the barrel, I have had some experience with this. I have done this with these guns benched, and there is no visible movement while looking through the scope at a target while dryfiring. Also, with my HV (20fpe) gun at 14.8lbs all-up, I can sometimes fire several shots without disturbing the aim if I'm REAL careful reloading the gun. I don't use a one piece rest.

My 30fpe gun DOES move back a little in the bags due to recoil, now that its under 15lbs weight, (but it didnt move when it was heavier) but only a very slight amount, perhaps 1/16"
