Thanks Paul for running the shoot . With a 3.5 hour drive each way I hope to make the trip ( NH also ) more often . My new GPS got a work out around Boston on the way home and I was glad I had it . I wish we could have posted better score for my SA friends . When you show up to shoot you take the conditions that are given to you weather it is a postal , world, or friendly get together . I saw old friends and made new ones . We had lots of talk about air rifles and planes for more shoots . With the dedicated , friendly , and open bunch of shooter here in the North East ( west, and North West ) I for one see the great sport of Air Rifle Bench Rest growing all over the US ( and the world ) . Thanks to all in the US and all over the world who are working for our sport . See you at a shoot . Rick

Looks cold there guys! Good shooting and thanks for the great pictures.. I love to see the shooters and there setups.

We thought we were going to have a nice sunny day at our NW match, but the darn fog just wouldn't lift and a cold breeze really pierced through our clothes.. Conditions are going to always be a grab bag of surprises, that's why I like the idea of shooting lots of different venues, so I can learn different conditions and meet new friends. With some sturdy portable benches, I'm sure we can get some new venues like "unused on the weekend" warehouses for indoor shooting, or parking lots for outdoor matches. I know we have lots of them in this lumber community. How about your area?

Paul,

As always, thanks for all your efforts! Even though my scores may not have reflected it, I had a great time.

What I'll add is: the temps were in the low 50's at best with a "slight" breeze blowing around at between 15 to 20 MPH, then every once in awhile gusting up into the 30's while taking out flags and wind-a-cators whenever it did, and thus the need for our cold-weather attire as shown in Paul's pictures (it's called wind-chill for a reason) along with our scores reflected its affect. Some worse than others.

But, all-in-all I think everybody had a great time - despite the language being used up and down the line after one of those gusts.

Paul and all the other shooters,
I was thinking about you guys while I was down in NC(t-shirt weather). Wish I could have made the last outdoor match at Holbrook and the USA vs. SA Postal! See you guys in December, I hope.
Todd

Thanks Guys

Thanks Guys,
Hope everyone had a good time. I did. Thanks for all the help in setting target stands and portable benches up. Tables for cleaning.
Mark for bringing the goodies etc.
David with the scoring.
Dan and Daniel keeping the wood stove going.
Franky and Al posting the targets.
Rick got the long driving award and was the first one here.
Doug and Norm setup and take down.
Todd sorry to hear about your truck break down coming home from N.C. Will see you at Holbrook, Salem or Pinacle Mountain this winter.
Wayne great shooting for Northwest team.

Thanks for the great photos. I especially like the cold weather props like hats and jackets but if the breath could be seen in the photos it really would have looked cold. ;-)
Okay, you win the hardship shoot award. I don't think our Northwest match dipped below 50. brrrrrrrr. Good thing this is a fun sport with lots of comraderie, eh? Good shooting, guys.

Mike,
I know I was in trouble when the target frames were frozen together under my car trailer. 30 degree's when I got to the range at 9:00 AM. Did warm up low to upper 40's. on the way home was mid 30's and dark at 4:30.

You guys sure beat us. Great shooting!

Paul

South Africa teams good luck with your match this weekend.

Thanks, Paul. It's almost summer in South Africa so we are expecting warm weather - hope no rain. Regarding the wind at Surefocus range - well all I can say is: there is ALWAYS wind at Surefocus!

We starting early morning with Heavy Varmint class - hoping to get best conditions.

WOW! You can tell by that layout that what may start out as a gentle little breeze somewhere off in the distance will have definitely changed over to way more than that by the time it gets to the range. That is one flat area of the world. And hardly a tree to be had. But I do love the cooking shack!

Good luck, and keep cool.

Dave, you are 100% correct regarding the wind.

The coocking shack is called a "boma".

Paul.
