Updated IBS 600yd Rules

Does anyone including the IBS Long Range Board have a current rule book? If so where can we get one? If not, where does a person look for a rule? Reason why i ask is because there were some rules that were enforced not to long ago that i can't find using the rule book on the web. One example is that if you shoot below the blue line on an IBS 600yd target, that you are DQ.
Where does it say that 600yd Nationals is an 8 target match or a 6 target or even a 4 target match. Maybe i am missing it somewhere on the web rule book. It would be nice if i new where it was at so i could read it and be able to direct others to that location the next time i am asked. Are there any plans to print an updated rule book for purchase? Does anyone know?

Brian,
A current updated copy with all current agenda items wrapped up in one neat little package does not exist that I know of right now. The rulebook on the IBS webpage right now only contains the 2004?? version of the original 600yd rules for the first year of competition.
FYI: You can go back and look through the meeting minutes for each year to see the status of individual agenda items. For instance I did find this one for the 8 target agg for the Nationals:

http://www.international-benchrest.com/MeetingMinutes/2006AnnualMeeting.htm

But I don't see other agenda items there to answer all of your questions. So I don't know either. I did see in the winter meeting notes one year, where there was a specific rule committee assigned to get the rulebook updated. Maybe contacting those folks to find out the latest progress would be the best bet? I don't know myself either.

You're not the only guy who'd like to see all the rules in one place.

As to the above, I think that the rule is the same for both IBS and NBRSA. A shot below the line or off paper to the right, left, or top, is a miss. 6" added to your group and a zero score. There is no DQ for a miss.

As far as I know the NBRSA Nationals are always 6 targets for each gun. However, it's still not clear if the tournament is to be a 2-day or a 3-day. If IBS went to an 8 target format they are pretty much committed to a 2 day tournament.

Lots of other little things that need to be put into a rule book also.

600 Yard Target

If I am not mistaken the 600 yard target is a reduced version of the 1000 yard target which is 42 inches square. The 600 yard target measures 21 inches by 24 inches, but if you measure to the bottom of the blue line you get 21 inches by 21 inches. So if the 1000 yard is square and the 600 is reduced from it, it stands to reason that any thing out of the 21 inches square would be a lost shot. But maybe not, just a thought.

You've got it! The area below the blue line is for shooter/relay/group/score information only. I think they did it that way to keep the actual record area as uncluttered as possible.

Thanks guys for the response and info. I just hate when someone ask's me a question and i can't find it in the rule book. Well i guess if i am selected as a referee i will have to go with the rule book in hand and in print until they come up with an updated one. I was always taught that if it's not in writing, it never happened. The same with the rule book at the matches, if it's not in the book than it's not a violation. You can't alway's go by hearsay.
