Update on "no turn" 6ppc

I finished the 2nd "no turn" barrel for my rifle a couple days ago. The barrel broke in very nicely, and to say the least it is one really good shooting tube. I know its the best i've had on my DS action so far. i've got 25 pieces that i've been shooting so far. I've not had one flier yet. ie not one unexplained bullet placement. they go right where the wind tells em too. (or where i tell em to when my flag reading is correct).

My shooting buddy has been shooting the other no turn barrel on his DS with the same results. I never did like turning brass, now i don't need to.

we formed the brass with a case full of pistol powder with a cotton plug the size of a q-tip end. the brass formed fully on that one shot. ie the powder fills a brand new case to the same level as the brass thats been shot several times. the new brass groups right with the brass thats been shot with real bullets. (I've never had this happen before).

Any how the bottom line is the no turn shoots as good as i can. I have not one complaint....The only brass prep is trimming to length and a light chamfer

I just hope Lapua brass quality stays so high... one less step, allows more time for shooting

Reamer from Dave Kiff. i just told him i wanted a "no turn" it says .274 nk with .040 free bore.

Hope to see ya in Unaka!

Kirk,

My experience with no-turn necks is the same as what you have experienced. The .274 neck is exactly what I use in the no-turn 6mm Beggs cartridge. I also have a good supply of custom carbide neck bushings in stock. Let me know if I can help you.
