Untrel 20 x 54 spotting scope

I sold this on ebay and the buyer told me : "I received the spotting scope yesterday, while cosmetically it is in acceptable condition the ocular lens (eyepiece) has about a dozen small pitts or chips in it and the scope will not focus as clear as it should at long distances."
I would like to know if is it possible to get a replacement part for this scope? I sold it for 399.00. Is it no good because of this? He plans to return it but, I don't know if I should try and sell it as is or if I can fix it.

Unertl hasn't made spotting scopes in a long time. A few specs on a lens will not even show up when using it.
As for focusing at long range, a scope is only as good as the atmosphere it is trying to see thru. humidity, mirage, dust, and bad eye sight makes a difference.
Let the buyer return it at his cost, and when you list it again sell as-is. I highly doubt you can get it repaired at a decent cost, if at all.
I doubt there is a legitimate problem with it.

Well IMHO it's always best to list all noticeable defects in the item listing and let bidders bid accordingly. As mentioned getting a sharp focus is iffy depending on the atmospheric conditions. It should be possible at say 100 yards when things are steady like early morning.

Sounds like the buyer thinks the scope will cut through mirage, and haze. Eyepiece condition is a constant factor no matter the range. KAF has the right idea.
