I was surfing the web for various scope manufacturers the other day and came across this piece of information. It made reference to the Unertl company as if they were still in business. This is the web site URL that I found the information. Is the information accurate or a load of bunk. www.articleclick.com/Article/Unertl-Scopes

Andy.

While I cannot be to specific I can give a rough idea of what happened to Unertl. Some years back, not long after John Jr. died, The family sold what was left of the company. While they were still in Mars, Pa. I talked briefly to one of owners who were in the process of trying to sort things out. Shortly after that they moved to somewhere around Las Vegas. I'd heard they were involved with a military contract and were planning to start producing some high end scopes for us civilians. That was several years back. I've heard nothing since then.

something weird going on here

All i got was the Honda ATV Post.

This is an excerpt of what I copied from that web site. No mention of Honda ATV at all.

According to the company's website, Unertl scopes can be returned directly to them if you should ever need repairs, and they're here in the United States, not overseas. There's a certain comfort for consumers in accountability, in knowing that you could contact a company representative to discuss concerns, questions, and kudos, rather than wondering who's working on your Unertl scopes and are they qualified to do the job right the first time.

You've already made a significant investment in your outdoor activities with the purchase of your rifle, now is not the time to skimp on your rifle scope. Going with a name brand maker turning out scopes like Unertl scopes will help protect that investment in your firearm. If a substandard scope can't stand up to normal wear and tear, there's always the chance it could loosen and eventually inflict unnatural wear and tear on your rifle. Poor quality eye cups and lenses could have a severe impact on the number of successful shots you make, and even more seriously, such defects could contribute to injuries. And no rifleman would want to even unintentionally cause harm to another rifleman or innocent bystander.

If that's not enough, it also make good sense in economic terms to buy Unertl scopes; supporting our American businesses supports American jobs, and American jobs are a crucial part of the fabric of our economy. Having a strong tax base in our communities makes solid financial sense, and with many companies considering overseas solutions to problem-solving, making your rifle scope purchase from an American company signals your loyalty in concrete terms, and that benefits all of us.

While certainly not a uniquely American pastime, hunting and shooting have a long and proud history in the United States. What better way to honor that unique heritage than by buying American-made Unertl scopes for your rifles.
