Gallatin's first match of the 2015 season is in the books. As you will see from the attached results, we had a good turnout. We had a couple of new shooters, Jason Goodman from Red Boiling Springs and Phillip Gregory's grandson (regrettably I didn't get his name). I think both had a good time, which is what it is all about.

When I arrived a few minutes after 7:00 the temp was 23º, but it was sunny with a light breeze and the day warmed quickly. Seems like it was in the mid 30's by match time. I was conerned that we would have bad mirage with the melting snow, but we had enough breeze that it didn't really factor in. Those of you who have shot Gallatin know what the wind can be like and today was no different. I doubt we ever had sustained winds past 8-9 mph and maybe some gusts to 12-13, but as usual it was very switchy and difficult to read. By the time you could get a sighter at 200 yards, the direction and intensity had changed, sometimes more than once. There were some who figured out 200 yards, but I can tell you that I wasn't one of them. By the time I left the range around 4:30 the temp was in the upper 50's. It was a very nice early spring day.

All the scoring and lunch was done in the range house, which we kept warm and comfortable. That worked well and we may continue to do the scoring there where there is less distraction. The next local match will be held at Strategic Edge near Chapel Hill, TN on Saturday March 21. It will be a 100/300 yard agg and will begin at 8:00 rather than 9:00 so that we can finish a little earlier and let the paying customers have the range. For details contact Mike Noli (615-512-1612). Buck Creek, near Somerset KY, will be shooting the same day, so you have two very good ranges to choose from. I believe Buck Creek will be shooting a 100/200 yd Agg. The next match at Gallatin will be on April 4th @ 9:00.
