UBR- Dry Branch Rifle Range 4/6/19

I'll have to say it was a pretty good start for what I hope will be many years of benchrest competition at MTSA's Dry Branch Rifle Range. If my count is right, we had 37 individuals competing with 44 rifles. I don't recall any UBR match other than the Nationals with this many participants. We had shooters from IN, KY, VA, AL and all over TN. In spite of the various glitches that usually come up with a new range, new target system etc, things seemed to go fairly well and I certainly hope everyone felt it was worthwhile. I can tell that this range is going to be a challenge, as are they all. There are strange swirls and updrafts that aren't commonly seen in most places. The competition was at 100 & 200 meters and the group set 6 new records, or at least that was the consensus at the end of the day and the targets will have to be reviewed by the scoring committee. Chester Bradford set two in Custom Class, Joey Gregory in Modified and Phillip Gregory in Factory. Also, I should point out it was a tough day as there were only five Aggs of 500 or better. Congrats to the winners and much appreciation to all who came to shoot with us. We will be competing there on the first Saturday of every month thru November. Come shoot with us.

It was a great match and a very good turn-out. I experienced some of those swirls to the tune of a ring and a half vertical drop... pretty devastating to your 100 meter targets. I was glad to get to see some of the folks I only get to shoot with a time or two every season, hopefully I can make it there more often.
You got a really nice range there Rick, you just need to exercise a few of those demons???

I think you meant "exorcise", they are already "exercising" the shooters. Matter of fact, we planned it that way, sorta like sand traps in strategic places. Like Gallatin was, if you can shoot here you can probably shoot anywhere.
