U.S. Championships

Not my idea but one that should be considered and would take some planning.

The U.S. Air Rifle Benchrest Championship would be a annual event rotating to different ranges in successive years. Each year the match director would decide the course of fire and rifle classes for competition. Make it a multiple day event with both 25 and 50 yard targets. Something for everyone.

Anyone want to step up and begin organizing the first annual event in 2012?

Good idea, and one perhaps Wayne Burns in Southern Oregon would consider hosting if he got some help.

Why not have National set the complete agenda. Both shooters and ranges would always know the cource of fire and classes.

Best idea ever!

Nothing like a gathering of worriors to see who is the baddest of the bad.

Would allow shooters to see what equipment is working and what is not.

A great place to meet fellow friends and shooters and exchange ideas.

Would like to see a place somewhere in the middle of the country where the Nationals could be held each year. Much like Perry or Super Shoot.

Just has to be a club somewhere that has the facilities and desire to hold this. Perhaps an existing rimfire range. Indoors would be the best of all worlds as weather would never be a factor. Laison between our match comittee and host club could pull this off.

Git 'er done!

The Power of Now! There will never be a better time to cement the air rifle bench rest group, tht than to use the Worlds match as a foundation. The shooters that qualify for this match and spend the Money to Travel can form a solid core for what is Next.

We can simply take the individual scores at the Worlds as The First Annual U.S National Bench Rest competition for our Group. There have been other National bench rest competitions like the BR-50 I attended in 1995. I would guess others have shot in other air rifle bench rest contest elsewhere.

Between now and then we can discuss a 2012 location that is centrally located. If driving is in the plan. Air Travel to and from many major cities though one may be off center is about the same. Just ThinN

My experience has been that only a small percentage of any local group will allocate vacation time and funds to travel to a match. Those that do will be at the Worlds.

Bob you bring some good logic to the table.
Further conversations with other knowledgable shooters brought to light the fact that Ron Lewis tried a National Match one year and about 5 shooters showed up. With this new found information I would have to agree perhaps this issue is too premature. Lets concentrate on club building and shooter participation. If down the road we feel the time and the interest are right we can discuss reserecting the idea.
Thanks to all for the good sense and clarity.
