Twist - Standard vs high speed ammo

I have read here a lot of opinions on what twist works best - for bench rest guns..... but - I have a nice old Annie 54 repeater action from a Biathlon gun with a bad barrel and would like to make it into a really nice sporter. My plan for the gun is to shoot hi vel off the shelf ammo. Good stuff but not any target ammo.

I am asking here as I figure that this is where the real knowledge is.

Just put any good brand 16" twist on it.You can then shoot cheap [pretty good] ammo like SK/Wolf ect and the good Eley/Lapua.No doubt it will shoot the high vel. stuff as good as you want also. My choice is Broughton.

I have only used Hart and Shilen barrels to date.... I see a lot of names now as being the hottest thing going that I am unfamilar with. I would suppose that all are going to ne pretty close to the same - performance wise - for an application like I intend...
