Having a higher than required twist puts a premium on bullet balance and quality.
A 'perfect' bullet would not be affected.
The problem is many are far from 'perfect.'
Past a few hundred yards I routinely use 'bench-rest' grade bullets in my Panda actin live varmint rifle.
I have been 'stealing' BR stuff for years.
400+ yards on a groundhog is not out of reach.
Many of the 'hogs have been shot at so often the mere silhouette of a person at hundreds of yards sends them into their burrow.
I had a farmer that allowed me to shoot yelling from my spotting scope on the critter "You got him. You got him." when the critter came apart.
He was very annoyed at the field damage.
