When Jim Mollica heard I was heading north for the 2011 Nationals he insisted I take his Sporter & Heavy Turbo. I had never shot a Turbo action but since he had Killer Rifles I said why not!
There was little or no wind during the Sporter Nats so I only needed to shoot a few sighters – just hold on the X and pull the trigger! However it still took me close to 25 minutes to finish the target because it was a pain to load!
The 3Gun Nats was a different story – twitchy 5 to 20 mph winds and not having the time to shoot sighters killed me.
Lets step forward to the 2012 Nationals:
Bill Hinegardner lent me one of his new Turbo V-1 to shoot – talk about night and day! Just drop the round on his new feed ramp and nudge forward with your thumb – It Feeds Great!!! Since I did not have to worry about feeding & could concentrate on the conditions I shot a 250 18X on the first target which was good enough for 2nd against some serious competition.
I did not get a chance to shoot one of his new Sporter Actions but my guess is that they are a substantial improvement over the Original Turbo
