Tuner question

Is there any specific reason why a tuner (that's 0.018± larger in diameter than the barrel I'd like to use it on) can't be shimmed (w/ brass stock) ?

Bob Barnharts tuner is shimmed on with a piece of a budweiser can and he's won 2 or 3 nationals with it that way.Brass stock should work fine too.

I prefer Coke cans. Honestly, pop cans make great tuner shims.
