Tula Primers

I am shooting a 6BR 13-twist and ask if any bench shooters have tried TULA Russ. primers and have an opinion.
Powder Valley has a special offer and "says" they more consistent than
Wolf small rifle. Normally I use 205M or 7 & 1/2's.
Thanks for the help, Rick223

the tula primers come in sleeve packaging which says they come from the exact same plant as the wolf primers...so how can they be better than a wolf ?...the only test i know of,showed wolf against cci and winchester..and shot to shot consistance was better with the wolf.
when these same primers were imported and sold by pmc(?)....they were sucked up by long range(600/1000, palma lr/lrm) and by short range (100/200 in srm)

the consumer packaging is different in color and layout, but not in function nor size......
tula just becomes the third importer of muron primers...

Thanks Mike in CO.
I'll bum a few Tula's from a fellow shooter & do a compare test
Rick223 in FL.

One thing to remember - the "regular" small rifle primers have been SOFT in the Wolf branded primers and will blank.

Be sure to order the Small Rifle Magnum primers. Everything I have read says they have the same type and amount of priming compound, just with a stronger cup.

I shoot these regularly in my 6mmBR's, 308's and 223's and love them. ES is under 10 in most cases.

Powder Valley has/had a special on the Tula brand primers FREE shipping and NO HAZMAT ( minimum 10k order) charges till their stock was gone.

Much thanks to: Mike in CO, George, and Roger T for info on Tula primers.

I'll call PV today - heck, it's only money !!

Travelor - George: With the Wolf-sr in the past, I had to increase .223 charges about
.2 to .3gr to get same avg velocity. Have U noticed the same with Tula-srm in your .223 ?
In my 6BR, I now use 135-31.8 & 205M for the Barts 68's & Ber 70's.
What might I expect in the 6BR when trying the Tula-srm's?

Thanks, Rick In FL.

Rick223, I have not noticed any reduction in MV using SRM Wolf primers in either 223 or 6mmBR.

I am shooting 30.2 gr Varget with with either Berger 105 BT or 107 SMK in my 6mmBR. I shoot 600 and 1000 yards with my guns.

just a reminder....
there are at least three small rifle primers from wolf/tula...
small rifle
small rifle /223( designed for the flaoting firing pin in an ar)
small rifle magnum.....which is used in the br field....from post here.

Thanks Guys for the info on the TULA primers and other advice.
I am now armed & dangerous -
Just ordered 10,000 TULSRM and of course, HAD to fill the 40# box. 779 spacebucks later....
May have to quit retirement & get a job to support my powder/primer/barrel habit.

I've been using Kevin Rayhill, Jim See & Greg Tannel for barrel and blueprint work.
Have learned to buy barrel blanks only and have these guys finish them. All do GREAT work.

Am planning to try a BenchMark 6mm in 9T & Ber-95vld for a 600yd switch.
Any advice ? Has anyone tried these barrels ??

Have been so busy & having fun giving heart-burn to the 6ppc club members with my
Krieger HV-22.5"x13.5T/Sav-Tgt, have not yet set up for longer range.
Found a 600yd club (Port Malabar, FL.) though - this could be fun.

Thanks again for all the help, Rick in FL.

I have had problems with some Wolf primers being a smaller dia. then other lots and too many blanks and I am talking about the sr mag. primers. I have probably used as many as anybody over the years. I have had less problems with the lr primers.

"Where did Powder Valley "say" this?
John"

PV phone sales is the source. Evidently, with Tula as a new dist. for Murom products,
primers should be of later mfg. I won't bet my life on it though. I have had & tried for 2 yrs
Wolf SRM's = ok, and 12-17 will have Tula SRM's to test.
Will be doing compare tests as weather permits. Did not do ES yet on Wolf SRM's.

Gundog 64 :

Just talked with Tula CS-Rep in Texas this morning.
From him, we can expect fresh batches with Tula & they are NOT re-packaging Wolf's
but they are the same primers like Mike in CO pointed out earlier.
I was hoping for different specs, like a better vapor seal, etc. but not so.
I remain sold on them though, until the targets show me otherwise.

Also, talked again with PV Rep - during the 205M shortage, some customers tried Tula SRM's
and with 205M's now available, have stayed with Tula.
Sorry if I read more into talks with these folks than what is varifiable. I must be careful
not to mis-quote, so information is accurate.
Hope all this helps. Call PV - the guy is very helpful.

Thanks to all who responded - a GREAT help for this fledgling BR shooter.
