I shoot a .223 single shot bolt gun. Saami case length is 1.760. I've been told to trim to 1.750. I have a bunch of brass shorter than 1.750. If I trim let's say 50 rounds to 1.745 all else being equal (varget 26.0, 69 SMK) could the 1.745's be less accurate than the 1.750's?

Also is 1.760 or 55 too long for any reason? Thanks guys.

You need to measure the chamber length. the case needs to be.010-.015 shorter than the chamber.

chamber length as measured by the Hornady guage used for finding the rifling to set seating?

no......
which is why i asked what type of br shooting you are doing.

sinclair makes a tool which fits in a shortened case whick allows one to measure the CHAMBER lenfth at the neck....not the throat.

and now if you would just move this over to the factory section as it is not benchrest.

guess I'm also confused on the definition of "benchrest". Does it mean only for people with custom rifles?

TvTv;
There is a lot of difference between Benchrest(the game) and shooting a rifle off a bench. I think that's what mike in co is referring to.

in this forum...more a split between competition benchrest and just shooting off a bench.
my 2 cents worth is this is benchrest from club on up to nationals and international . what it is not is shooting your rifle off a bench.

there is a factory/hybred forum for shooting your rifle off a bench...
