i just bought a new winchester 1885 high wall,and it has a 4 # trigger... i take it to gunsmiths and they won't touch it,and say its not adjustable,and just leave it alone,,, it's so hard,, i try to use the sand bags and it will drag the rifle of the bags before it will go off... is this a mistake to buy this gun,or can the trigger be fixed to where it will shoot computition?

Find an older Smith

I would think you would be able to find someone who can help you. This is America. All things are possible !

trigger job

A qualified person should be able to help you but one word of caution; there are many trigger butchers. Most triggers require a light stoning and polishing of contact surfaces being careful not to change existing sear engagement geometries or ruin case hardened parts. A reduced rate spring can complete the total package. Too many people over stone and clip spring coils which will yield a quick and measureable improvement, but is not the right way to go about it. Do your homework and search the right person out, don't just let anyone do it.

Jacob;
What caliber is the rifle??? The trigger may not be the limiting factor.
